The PostgreSQL connector allows data to be cataloged, queried, transformed and to create tables in PostgreSQL. This can be used to quickly and easily join data between different systems like PostgreSQL and Hive, or between different PostgreSQL instances.
The PostgreSQL connector is available for all Promethium editions, including Free, Professional, Premium and Enterprise.
Connect PostgreSQL
Connecting to PostgreSQL is fast and easy. Simply click Data Sources from the menu, then click + New Data Source. Select PostgreSQL and enter the information for your PostgreSQL.
PostgreSQL Connection Configuration
PostgreSQL connection details can be case sensitive. Ensure that data is entered with the correct case for your PostgreSQL.

Data Source Name | Give the PostgreSQL connection a unique name for easy identification. |
Description | Optional. A meaningful description for this connection. |
Host Name | Enter the host name for your PostgreSQL database. For example: db.company.com |
DB Port | Enter the port number for your PostgreSQL database. |
User Name | Enter the username associated with your PostgreSQL account. |
Password | Enter the password associated with your PostgreSQL account. |
Database Name | Enter the database containing the data you want to retrieve. |
Data Source Topic | Optional. Categorize the PostgreSQL connection. For example, Marketing. |
What Happens Next - Finish PostgreSQL Connection
Click the Connect button then select schemas. After successful connection and schema selection Promethium will automatically crawl and catalog data in your PostgreSQL, then make the data easily searchable and usable.
Click Data Explorer from the menu and begin exploring the data in your PostgreSQL.
